Earlier this week, Paul and I had been discussing the implications of Google’s offer to translate webpages in foreign languages. At first, I was against it, saying it would weaken our species in the long run.
I stood by that for 30 seconds and then realized, as Paul was commenting on it, that what this ready-made translation really meant was a kind of universal language. Google can translate anything, to some degree.
Anyway, as I was looking up bus times and routes to get to the Billion Dollar Movie premier, this little baby popped up and said: “Don’t worry Sam, our species’ future is secure…”
This was somewhat satisfying, until I realized that I went to a French translation page to get this title anyway.
